Explained: Survey Settings

With speed and simplicity in mind, the Survey Settings’ page was designed with options that matter the most. In this document, we will explain these settings in detail.

Users may go back-and-forth pages

This option adds an additional “Back” button on surveys with multiple pages. Together with this new button, survey respondents can go forward (”Next”) or backward (”Back”) to change their responses, or review questions. Enable this option if you have long surveys that may span multiple pages, or if you often require respondents to reference previous questions.

Submit multiple times per computer

By default, each published survey only accepts one response per computer. When this option is enabled, multiple responses can be admitted from the same computer. This option may be useful if a survey is to be completed by many respondents from a common unit. Since this feature relies on browser cookies, clearing cookies will also allow multiple responses. We will be looking into IP-based restrictions, but that will come later.

Ask for optional name at end of survey

Enabled by default, we will prompt your respondents for a identifier (a nick, or a name) at the very end of your survey. Since this identifier is optional, your respondents have the liberty to leave out this final field. We found this feature to be a quick but useful option and thought would help all survey creators, but you are keep your surveys totally anonymous.

Show question numbers in survey

This option adds question numbering to your survey, allowing you to reference particular questions, or make a survey good for printing.

Listing in Pollograph Directory

Pollograph Directory (PD) is a collection of freely published surveys result snippets. As a default, all Free Pollograph accounts will be listed in the PD; Premium accounts will have the option to remove participation. In summary snippets in the PD, no personally identifiable information will be revealed.

Show survey progress bar

This option includes a survey progress bar at the end of every survey page, giving heads up to your respondents on the completion of their survey. Keep this option enabled if you have lengthy surveys.

Password Protected

You can control respondents to your surveys by requiring a password before access. Fill up your password in this field to enable this feature, or leave it blank for a publicly accessible survey. Use this option if you are conducting surveys for a closed group.

Logo

Logos uploaded will have to picture files ending in the .jpg, .png and .gif extensions, not exceeding 400KB in size. Only files which satisfy these rules will be uploaded as your logo. Since all logos will appear above your survey title (in most design templates), if you wish to have your logos appear within your survey content, embed it with HTML.

Design Template

Choose your pick of design templates for your surveys. These design templates change the look of your survey, to better put forth the character of your organization. You can preview these surveys by clicking on the “Preview” button in the bottom menu. We’re constantly designing gorgeous templates for your use, so stay tuned!

Return URL

Upon completion of a survey, respondents are redirected back to our standard “Thank You!” page in Pollograph. This is a quick fix for students or users creating in their own capacity. Businesses however, usually prefer to be redirected to their own websites for branding or marketing purposes. To enable custom Return URL, enter the URL into the field. Alternatively, clean the field to use our standard completion page. This option is only available to Premium account users.

Completed message

By default, all respondents will be redirected to our standard “Thank You!” page upon completion of your survey. If you wish to leave a note to your respondents, use this field to include media or text as a custom completed message. We will use a standard message if you leave this field blank.
